Everywhere we look, we see messages promoting healthy living and wellbeing; and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, eat less fatty food, watch your weight, drink less alcohol, get off the couch and go for a run and try to walk or cycle rather than taking the car.
All well and good, but why do we not hear more about the incredible health benefits of a great night’s sleep? There is now a substantial body of medical evidence to confirm that sleeping well is vital to your health and wellbeing and is just as important as what you eat and drink or how often you exercise.
Poor sleep patterns have been found to do a lot more than affect how tired you will be in the morning. Obesity, depression, diabetes, heart disease and memory loss are all conditions related to sleep deprivation. In Ireland, it’s estimated that 1 in 3 people regularly suffer from sleep deprivation; it’s nothing short of an epidemic that has gone more or less unnoticed.
Here at Aurora Beds we want to help to change all that. On this website you will find lots of tips on how to sleep better and for longer. Just go to our Media and Sleep Centre. One key element to that of course is a good bed. People keep putting off buying a new mattress, yet this is the one piece of furniture in our homes that we probably spend longer on than any other.
So please join us on our quest to make everyone sleep better, deeper and longer. 8 hours sleep and rest is the best way to set your body up for whatever the day ahead throws at you.
